Arctic Adventures/Arctic Rafting is the first travel company in Iceland to offer self drive super jeep day trips combined with some of our great eco adventures. On the self drive tours you get to drive on exciting highland trails on modified 4x4 vehicles (Land Rover Defender 110, with huge 38" tires, a snorkel, VHF radio intercommunication, GPS device and an air compressor) which have been especially designed for Iceland´s demanding terrain.
With the help of these giant vehicles, participants can discover glaciers, deserts, lava fields but also some of Iceland´s main attraction, like the glacier valley of Þórsmörk and the highlights of the Golden Circle.
Participants are accompanied by a leading vehicle if there are many Land Rovers on track together. Otherwise there is a professional certified Iceland guide in the jeep with the passengers, ensuring safety and giving everyone detailed information about the country, its nature, culture or whatever you are curious about.
To reduce the impact of our vehicles on our beautiful but sensitive Icelandic nature we have teamed up with Icelandic New Energy (www.newenergy.is) and the Icelandic Carbon Fund Kolvidur (www.kolvidur.is). For every driven kilometer we support these companies with their ongoing projects here in Iceland. If you don´t feel like driving yourself, you can ask the guide to drive the jeep for you at all times without any extra charge, or simply choose some of our driver guided Super Jeep tours.
