Rafting in Skagafjörður – North Iceland
Welcome to the capital of whitewater rafting in Iceland! In the vast remoteness of North Iceland's Skagafjörður valley, wild and powerful glacial rivers carve their way through deep volcanic canyons on their unrelenting journey to the ocean. The Skagafjörður fjord is the northern drainage for Hofsjökull, Iceland's third largest glacier, and is naturally suited for rafting due to the abundance and variety of whitewater in the area. Given the proximity of these rivers to their glacial sources, water is consistently abundant and river levels are very reliable throughout the summer months, a rare security among the world's great rafting rivers.
From our newly constructed rafting base in North Iceland, we operate 3 unique rafting trips on 2 different rivers, and can confidently promise to satisfy anybody's apetite for adventure, no matter how mild or extreme! The world-famous rapids of Austari-Jökulsá, the East Glacial River, set the stage for our most exciting full-day (Beast of the East), and multi-day (River Rush) rafting adventures, while the stunning canyons and meandering waters of Vestari-Jökulsá, the West Glacial River, are well suited to our gentler half-day family rafting trip (Wonderful West).
